OPC Resveratrol Complex
DNA – Anti-Aging Active
The two polyphenols OPC and resveratrol are important components of the so-called Mediterranean diet. They are found in various plants, being particularly abundant in red grapes and Japanese knotweed (Polygonum cuspidatum).
The positive effect of grapes is still underestimated by some. Yet, grapes combine so many and wonderful properties for human health in their delicious berries that they should be eaten not only during grape season, but ideally daily. Grapes contain valuable plant compounds, such as OPC and resveratrol, especially in their seeds and skins. Studies show their efficacy and preventive effect in various life stages.
OPC and trans-resveratrol are linked in current research to longevity and the protection of the cardiovascular system and the brain. An effect against diabetes, obesity, and an anti-aging effect are also being discussed.
Resveratrol and Low-Calorie Diet
Research is also being conducted into the extent to which resveratrol can activate certain enzymes in the body – the so-called sirtuins. These react to biological stress, such as a low-calorie diet, and to protect against it, they stabilize the genetic material in the cells, increase energy utilization, and thus prolong survival. Their effect is similar to that of a calorie-reduced diet on the body, which is known to extend the lifespan of many animals (and perhaps also humans). The special thing is that this effect may also be achieved with resveratrol without a low-calorie diet.
Difference between Resveratrol and Trans-Resveratrol
Resveratrol exists in two different forms – the "cis- and trans-isomers." The trans-form is considered the more bioactive form and remains stable in its effect for longer. When purchasing resveratrol, always make sure that it is the bioactive trans-form. EVOLUTION always uses the trans-resveratrol form.
